Creating a Child-Friendly Design to Meet Grown-up Expectations

Children's Hospital Seeks Durable, Seamless Floor

When Cook Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) in Fort Worth, Texas, undertook a $53 million expansion, it sought to create a child-friendly environment with vivid colors and floor patterns. The new floor needed to meet stringent hygiene and safety requirements while also being easy to clean. Realizing the vinyl flooring used in the past hadn’t lived up to expectations, project designers turned to Stonhard after attending a company-sponsored “lunch and learn” event.

Stonres RTZ gave hospital planners the freedom to design vibrant, child-friendly floors without compromising on hygiene, safety, or longevity.

Stonres RTZ allowed architects to craft intricate, colorful floor patterns that would bring joy to young patients while ensuring durability and easy maintenance for hospital staff.

Innovative, Child-Friendly Flooring to Enhance Healing

Stonhard recommended Stonres RTZ, a stylized urethane floor infused with multi-colored urethane aggregate chips to produce a durable, high-performance system that allowed intricate patterns and unique design capabilities. Architects arranged for the design team to begin experimenting with colors and patterns. With a long lifespan, exceptional durability, and low maintenance, RTZ offered the hospital considerable benefits and savings over traditional vinyl flooring.

Stonhard’s revolutionary RTZ product was the ultimate answer to the medical center’s floor performance dilemmas. Not only that, but the team achieved its goal to create a colorful, child-friendly design.
