Horace Mann School, a prestigious, private preparatory school in New York City, experienced damage to their floors during a renovation project. When considering a replacement, they contacted Stonhard, the flooring manufacturer and installer for more than a dozen of the school’s physics labs and corresponding corridors. Planners were impressed with Stonhard’s product and workmanship and felt confident in working with the company again.

Stonhard Works to Achieve Custom Flooring Vision
Stonhard set up a Lunch & Learn session to outline the individual benefits of Stonhard flooring systems, giving planners a full range of possibilities. Discussions resulted in a request for a specific look, while ensuring the necessary performance for an active school, durability, wearability, and abrasion resistance would be maintained.
Stonhard formulated a custom solution for Horace Mann and introduced a new product, Stoncrete EFX. Stoncrete is a distinctly modern look for commercial interiors, a micro terrazzo system with outstanding, long-term performance and aggregate options. The new floors provided an effective solution for locker rooms and worked with the school’s existing stairwells, giving the corridors a fresh look.

While on-site, Stonhard was also contracted to install a slip-resistant, textured tweed flooring system, Stonshield SLT, for the school’s pool deck.
