Jack Link’s is a family-owned and operated meat snack company founded in the 1880s. In its fifth generation, Jack Link’s cooks and dries meat in their own smokehouses, one of which is in Alpena, South Dakota. The company consulted with Stonhard about their need for a long-lasting, high-performance flooring system for 55,000 sq. ft. of production expansion.
They required a resilient, slip-resistant floor to meet the demands of processing and production. Following a site review and discussion with decision-makers, Stonhard recommended Stonclad UT, a troweled polyurethane textured mortar system designed for food environments.
The production area prepared by installers prior to installation.
A textured polyurethane system customized to the needs of a busy food manufacturer.
Formulated and installed ahead of schedule to meet the customer’s specific needs, this Stonhard flooring system will support Jack’s Links for many years to come.
The floor was customized without a topcoat and included aggregate and texture for slip resistance. A nine-man Stonhard crew prepped the surface, installed the floor, and applied Stonkote HT4 topcoat to the bottom of the concrete cove bases. Stonhard coordinated its construction management group and installation crews to meet the customer’s request to start the project a month early, finishing ahead of schedule.
Stonhard’s smooth, fast installation got this busy food manufacturer up and running quickly. Due to the success of this project, Jack Link’s has continued to work with Stonhard on additional flooring projects.
