The Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) is the state’s largest freestanding ambulatory care facility. When planning a new ambulatory surgery center, MCCG staff expressed the need for a durable, comfortable, easy-to-clean floor in a soothing color scheme. This would mark a significant upgrade from welded-seam vinyl that had presented many repair and maintenance problems over the years caused by disbonding and Betadine staining. Achieving all these goals would be a tall task for installers, and that’s why the medical center turned to Stonhard.
Geometric patterns in soft, muted tones create a healing environment.
Integral cove bases promote sanitation by facilitating easy cleaning.
To meet all the requirements of this project, Stonhard recommended its unique flooring system, Stonres RTZ. With unlimited design opportunities and the ability to prevent permanent Betadine staining, Stonres RTZ urethane floors also offer ergonomic comfort, easy cleaning, minimal maintenance, and acoustic benefits for an optimal healing environment.
An osmotic pressure resistant grout, Stonfil OP2, was installed to guard against excess moisture from occurring in the slab and prevent disbonding due to osmotic pressure. An integral 6” cove base was also created for superior sanitation. And to further handle the potential Betadine staining, Stonhard offered Stonkleen SR9, a heavy-duty cleaner designed to remove stains and detergent build-up.
